Duane is a Founding Managing Partner of Qiming Venture Partners. Duane has over 20 years of IT industry operational and investment experience. He started his venture capital career since 1999.  Prior to founding Qiming, Duane was the Director of Intel Capital China. During his 6 year tenure at Intel Capital, Duane had overall responsibilities for Intel Capital's investment activities in China. Prior to Intel Capital, Duane spent over 5 years at Cisco Systems in China, holding various senior management positions in the sales and marketing organizations. Duane was instrumental in building up Cisco's presence in Southern China and later in the telecom and service provider sector.

Before returning to China in 1994, Duane had a successful engineering and management career in both startup and large global companies in Silicon Valley. Duane started his career in 1988 as a software engineer at 3Com Corporation, and 3 years later joined Kalpana Inc, a Silicon Valley startup company later acquired by Cisco as an engineering manager.

Duane is a governor of the China Venture Capital Association.

Education:
Duane was born in China and educated in America. He holds an MBA degree from the University of California at Berkeley,a Master's degree in Computer Science from Stanford University and a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science from San Francisco State University.

Duane currently serves on the board of directors of ChinaCache, Mutto Optronics, Docin, Cootek, Convenient Power, Qiniu and Intellent Automation.

Part of his successful IPOs of former portfolio companies include TechFaith (NASDAQ: CNTF), Actions Semiconductor (NASDAQ: ACTS), and A8 Music(Stock code: 0800.HK).
